Last week, I examined what I thought technology would evolve into in this blog post. In that post, I said that the world will become an interconnected experience network. So I thought about how this could be applied in today's terms. I kind of kept little ol' Zionsville, Indiana in mind when I thought about this.
So here it goes: what if all the food places in Zionsville connected into a service where a website served as a point of connection to the customer. A customer could order things from different restaurants and have it all delivered to their door step in a relatively timely manner with everything they ordered right there. The customer would order online, pay online, and the funds would be allocated to the restaurants from which the customer purchased food. The delivery person would most likely come from the core service and their tip would be included in the bill they paid online. This would alleviate going out to multiple restaurants and everyone in a household could order what they want and from whatever restaurant.
This scenario is an example of my interconnected experiences idea, but it demonstrates a core principle every software and web developer should understand: it is ALL about the experience. Developers need to understand that an experience must also be seamless and somehow improve on what the task at hand is. That is basically what the aim of technology is.
If Zionsville restaurants are interested in that idea, let us know! We can easily make this happen!
Meanwhile, I'll be brainstorming some more interconnected experiences. Some will apply to the real world that will be possible today, and others will be futuristic.
Have a great day,
